How To Find Cheap School Swag Options

Around the start of the spring and summer, when momentum about fall enrollment and beginning college is building, students discover that school spirit comes at a price.

This hidden expense of college lurks undetected in your very campus bookstore — and it’s called SCHOOL SWAG.

Hoodies, tee shirts, sweaters, and other official merchandise branded with your school’s logo and colors can actually end up costing way more than necessary (think, like, $60 for a basic sweatshirt).

Pass.

Is there a way to rep your future university without breaking the bank?

Yes, of course there is! We’ve got your fix for cheap school swag options galore.

1. Amazon

The most you’ll pay for a cotton t-shirt with your school’s logo on Amazon will be around $20. Compare that to $30 or even $40 at some school campus stores. That’s almost half off! Plus, depending on your school, you might get a discount on Amazon Prime, so soak up that free 2-day delivery.

Amazon also has tons of drinkware, keychains, lanyards, and other accessories that you can buy in bulk for cheap — so when your family asks to rep your school, you can get lots of them for reasonable prices.

Obviously, this example isn’t specific to any college, just Animal House. But you get the idea.

2. Etsy

At Etsy, you get to support smaller local businesses instead of giving more money to the school where you’re already paying a zillion dollars in tuition. Everybody wins!

Plus, there are often super unique, homemade items branded with your school’s mascot, logo, or community. If you’re looking for art or decorations that are a little off the beaten path, it’s definitely worth a search.

For example, take a look at these custom sneakers Ohio State fans will love. Etsy user KaitlinHennessyArt will make you a one-of-a-kind pair for your school for $75.

This beanie is really cool, too; it has a hole in the back so you can wear your hair up, but keep warm at the same time! Plus, it’s easily customizable, so your school’s logo can easily be applied.

3. Ebay

Vintage is always cool, and what better way to find premo vintage swag for your school than on Ebay? And you’re doing the environment a solid by reducing the amount of new production.

Check out these awesome vintage iron-on patches for like, $5:

And while Ebay got its name in bidding, you can just straight up buy stuff, too! Take, for example, this hilarious shirt below. Even if you’re not going to Harvard Law school, you can find your school in a jiff, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to show your school spirit.

4. Target, Walmart, etc.

Oh yeah, real-life stores exist! Cruise down to the local Target or Walmart near your intended school and you’ll probably find some great, branded apparel.

5. Fanatics Outlet

If your school has a big sports presence, you’ll totally find cool, inexpensive apparel on the Fanatics Outlet website. They also sell gear for professional sports teams, but their college section has a lot of great finds at even better prices. Hats, jerseys, tee shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, you name it — they’ll have something awesome for your school, guaranteed.

Just take a look at some of the savings on their college page. They’ve got customizable options, national championship swag, hats, jerseys, and pretty much everything under the sun.
